Busua is The most beautiful beach of ghana and the mecca of surf.

BUSUA

Busua is such an awesome place to be. Very welcoming people, a beautiful beach and refreshing waters to cool you down.

The Justice Brothers would love to take you on a surf adventure, have an ice coffee at Pamela’s place, eat a surfers breakfast at Okorye Tree, or catch a fish on the grill with banku on the streets at night. And then go for a cocktail at Ahanta Palms of course.

Go to Upuku’s vinyl record store, visit Wim’s organic farm, skate with Jacob and the local kids or go fashion with Parker Collections.

Kajak to the island, pull a boat on shore with the fishermen, vibe with the school kids or sing on Sunday in church.

Read a book, practice yoga or just slow down from busy life.

YOU’LL BE AT WALKING DISTANCE FROM THE BEACH, WAVES AND THE VILLAGE!

LET’s SURF!

  • BUSUA BEACH

Surfing in Busua is so much fun. The waves are good. For beginners but also experienced surfers. The water is warm and the locals are very cool. You might hear some nice reggae or afrobeat pumping from the beach. Surf conditions work best with high tide.

  • DIXCOVE

Dixcove is a smooth point break at walking distance from the house. But if you want your surf energy take a cab. The point is breaking in both directions, but we choose the right side. Last time we surfed it with a whale in the back. Intermediate to advanced level. Talented beginners also, but be smart and bring the local surfers with you.

  • Black mamba

Black mamba is a right hander reef break at walking distance from the house. It breaks in front of the mango tree and the ride can be long. Normally it works with mid tight and the chances you surf it alone are high. Intermediate to advanced level. Always good to bring your local buddies.

  • Takwa

Plan a surf trip to Takwa. It will take you 1,5 hour depending on the condition of the road.

  • Cape 3 points

Combine Takwa with Cape 3 points. From Busua it will take you 1,5 hour by car. If you want more adventure go by fishing boat. Or just take a motorbike. Right hander point break. Intermediate level and advanced.

  • The Justice Brothers

For your interest: we work closely together with The Justice Brothers. We have been seeing their work for five years now. They run cool surf activities, operate as informal lifeguards at the beach and are pioneering female surfing in Ghana with their Obibini girls surf club. So they are more than perfect to take care of you. From beginner level to advanced. And yes you have a reduction if you stay at our place.

OTHER ACTIVITIES WHILE YOU’re (T)here

  1. On walking distance you could go to Butre. It is a very nice walk and in Butre you could go to Fort Batenstein. It is a ruin but very nice to visit and the view from up there is breath taking. Also the wooden bridge that connects the town with the beach is highly recommended.

  2. If you walk the other side from the house you could go to Dixcove. There is a fishing harbour and Fort Metal Cross that is very well maintained.

  3. Agona is not too far also by car. It is cool to go there on Wednesday morning when it’s market day.

  4. Takoradi is the big city and could also be cool to go shopping or partying at night.

  5. Nzulezu is a couple of hours from Busua and a stilt village on water. Picture taken by Kamilla Siffer.

  6. Cape 3 points is also some hours away from Busua and is the southernmost tip of Ghana with a panoramic view of coastal rainforest reserve, rolling hills and the Atlantic ocean if you are lucky enough you might spot some whales.

  7. In Axim you find Lou Moon resort set within a natural beach cove, nestled against a backdrop of lush green forests, and overlooking a magnificent bay area.

  8. On the way back to Accra ( or on the way coming ) you can visit Elmina Castle in Cape coast. Some people combine it with Kakum National Park.
